Okay, I know lots of my friends and family that have mentioned sharing their great recipes with me. I will admit that I don’t know lots about this whole blogging thing, but I think we might be able to make this extra page a sort of message board for people to share their fun ideas and experiences.
So, if you have a recipe or something you want to share, just put it here as a comment, and we will see how it goes. Come on, live a little, you know you want to! 🙂

I got a recipe for you to try Aunt Maria. Annie and I like to cook on saturdays and sunday nights for dinner, and so far we’ve made tortellini w/red sauce and loads and loads of chocolate covered pretzels. But recently, Annie decided we should try something different with our pretzels, so we did. We made Chocolate Peanutbutter Covered Pretzels. (just a heads up, there has got to be a better way of doing this, but because we are in college and dont have a lot of pots and stuff, we had to improvise). So heres how we did it:
Take a whole bunch of Hershey snack size chocolate bars, break them in half, enough to fill a microwavable bowl.
Then take 3 to 4 tablespoons of peanutbutter (measure by chocolate, it should be a half and half ratio). Throw the bowl in the microwave in 10 second incraments (so you dont burn it) until it is smooth and creamy. Then dip pretzels (your favorite kind, we’ve been using Utz’s Special Sourdough ones, until we ran out, and now we’re using minirods) and set on tinfoil or waxpaper lined cookie sheet. Then its just a waiting game.
they are super yummy, but just make sure no one in your audience has a peanut allergy.
(our tortellini recipie wasn’t anything special, we had to use jared sauce, but we added to it to make it better, lots of parmesean cheese and garlic powder).
Sounds Yummy! You can’t go wrong with the whole sweet/salty combo! You need to email me your address at school now that you have moved! Do you guys have a crockpot? Those are cheap (20.00) and you can make lots of goodies in there. They even sell plastic liners for them so you don’t have as much to clean.
This message is for Renee…
I LOVE making chocolate covered anything…especially pretzels and strawberries. I recently saw a recipe where you dip an entire pear in white chocolate then put 2 dark chocolate chips on for eyes so you make little ghosts for Halloween…too cute!
Try looking for chocolate bark on the baking aisle of your grocery store (either dark or white chocolate). It melts better/smoother and coats better than milk chocolate bars — it won’t scorch. There are instructions on the package for microwave melting (this is how I melt mine). YUM and good luck!!

OK Maria….what about crab-cakes? Do you like them, ever make them, do you have any good recipes for them?
For some reason I love ’em! They’re quick and tasty and each recipe I try is always different…and I try every recipe I see. Adam and I had them 2 nights ago (the recipe is in the September 2007 issue of Cooking Light). I served them with a simple salad: mixed greens, grape tomatoes, cucumber and fresh asiago cheese. Based on the serving (should have taken a picture of that night!) we both thought we would be hungry at 8:00. I had 2 crab cakes he had 3 — we both were stuffed after we ate! He had beer per usual with dinner and I was finishing a bottle of 2005 Cascina Degli Ulivi, Filagnotti — Gavi was the grape (which is a new grape to me), it was very interesting!
Hi Andi! Glad that you finally got to post! I am iffy on the crabcake situation. Sometimes I like them, sometimes not. Bravo to you for making them! What do you use for your crabmeat? Any specific brand that you stick with?
Oh Aunt Maria, Guess What!!!
I made Pork Chops the other night for Mom while I was home for spring break, and everyone loved them! So I thought I would share my recipe with you!
Mom had bought these thinly cut bone in pork chops on special at Landis’s. So I took a frying pan and put a TINY bit of olive oil in the pan and heated it up on number 5.
Then I washed the porkchops and put them in the pan.
I put Garlic Powder (a generous amount b/c I ❤ garlic), Salt and Pepper, and Parmesan Cheese on each side of the chop as I was cooking them.
Mom said they were Yummy!
Hey Chickie! Those sound really good! Kudos to you for taking care of your Mom while you are home!
love ya!
